Burlesque, Prosecco, and New Orleans

Could you ever imagine NOLA any other way?!

Kitty Crimson contacted me just a few days before her ceremony, to inquire about photography. She'd gotten my name from Jeramiah (thank you!) who I'd known from the Starlight bar, when it was located in the French Quarter. I so happened to be awake at some ungodly hour, editing probably, when I received her email. I pondered about going to sleep soon, but something within me decided to not wait 'until tomorrow'.

Kitty and her partner Shannon had planned to elope in New Orleans, before COVID crashed the party. They originally booked with The Jaywalkers New Orleans Second Line Band back in 2019-2020. They also had a photographer, but the photographer had become ill just a few days before all were set to fly out of Denver , Colorado to NOLA.

This is where I came in...My schedule was open that weekend and my mom had my three girls in North Louisiana, so I let Kitty know I was available and she booked me. I was so excited to meet everyone and capture what would be- for some- their first experience ever in New Orleans! Kitty dubbed the experience, an 'extended toast'.

I have shot many ceremonies, but never in Lafayette Square, so this was a fun opportunity to be some place 'different'. A second line in the French Quarter happens all the time, but rarely happens in the Central Business District.

Have to be honest here...I like the look of the CBD with a second line strolling through! It's so bright.

I was a little early, so I got to meet all the guests before the lovely duo arrived for their 'showtime'. While waiting for the brides, I decided to get their awesome guests to make their own 'soul train' line, which ended up being perfect for candid shots and I'm sure some great memories to look back on for everyone.

This event was a long time in the making. The second line band was so happy these two stayed committed to keeping them, even after two years. The intimate reception was hosted at the historic Swoop Duggins House.
